A Psychotic Reaction to Dental Care A Case Report (IPDOAJ) - Lupinepublishers

Behavioural reactions to dental procedures have not received sufficient attention in either the psychiatric or dental literature. In medicine, behavioral reactions have been studied in relation to many types of medical and surgical procedures. In dentistry, behavior in the dentist’s office has been studied and related to maternal anxiety and to previous dental or medical trauma. This case report describes lower lip mucoceles excision with an Nd: YAG laser in a 6-year-old girl, with no recurrence after 12 years. When properly used, Nd: YAG laser can play a beneficial role to both clinicians and patients in achieving high quality results, as it provides good hemostasis, reduced postoperative swelling, bacterial reduction at the surgical site, lesser need for suturing, faster healing, and less postoperative pain.
